I am a British educator. My original teaching degree was upper primary from Lancaster University, in later years I re-qualified as a middle school English and social studies teacher.In more recent years I have moved into leadership, but have also deepened my understanding of SEL with several post graduate courses from the University of Colorado at Boulder.I believe firmly that real learning is relational in nature. Social and emotional intelligence is not secondary to academic, rather it is at least on equal footing in the development of the child, if not much higher. All those A-levels are fantastic, but if you lack the soft skills to function in life, they will not help you develop very much.
